Wedding Photography at The Oak Tree of Peover

The Oak Tree of Peover is one of my favourite Cheshire wedding venues so I was very excited when Amy and Joe got in touch about their big day and the wedding lived up to all my expectations. The new extension at the Oak Tree of Peover is perfect for holding your ceremony on site. Amy and Joe were keen to have an outdoor feeling to their indoor ceremony and with the full height glass walls this is precisely what you get. It’s light and bright and airy and makes photographing weddings at the Oak Tree of Peover a complete dream!  The couple were keen to have a really relaxed, informal day with lots of fun for guests (big and small).

Amy tells a little of their story…

“Joe and I met in a bar called Electrik in Chorlton.  It was a chance meeting as neither of us were meant to be out that night; Joe was meant to be going home early and I had only popped out for one drink and wasn’t in the mood to stay out.  I always say that as soon as I saw Joe I knew, it was like I didn’t have a choice – I had to go over and talk to him and I’m not a person that believes in love at first sight either!  We always laugh about Joe’s first words to me which were “I have a job and two children so don’t have time to date” to which I replied “who says I want to date you”…..you could say the rest is history really!  We went on our first date 5 days after!  People have described us as the same person – just male and female versions of each other although I’m not sure how much we think that as Joe is laid back, calm and centred whereas he has described me as impatient (I would say a go-getter)!

Joe proposed on Christmas day 2017, just over 2 years after we met.  It was a complete surprise and involved his two children, Alfie and Roman, which meant a lot as we have had to battle over the course of our relationship to gain a consistent amount of time with them. After that our wedding planning journey has been pretty smooth – Joe wanted a wedding at a venue with all his friends and family so I have really wanted to plan the best day possible for him!  I have joked throughout the engagement that Joe is the actual Bridezilla….or Groomzilla!  We are both fairly informal people and wanted the wedding to reflect this and be a relaxed event.”

Wedding Ceremony at the Oak Tree of Peover

The day of the wedding dawned bright and sunny and I headed to the Oak Tree of Peover to join Amy for bride prep before it was time to head downstairs to the wedding ceremony, where, surrounded by their friends and family, the couple tied the knot.

After the ceremony guests steamed outside for confetti and drinks and a natter with the newlyweds. We managed to dodge a few spring showers for Amy and Joe’s portraits and group shots before it was time to head inside for the wedding breakfast.

I absolutely loved the simple spring decor that Amy and Joe had picked out for their wedding breakfast. Including the handmade naked wedding cake and the little seed bombs. After everyone was fed and watered it was time to party! Whilst guests were eating, the ceremony room had been transformed into the party area and the live band were set up and ready to go but not before guests headed outside to enjoy some of the lawn games Amy and Joe had provided. I think there were supposed to be for the kids but drunk guests with hula hoops makes for some great pictures!

It was nearly time for me to head away from the wedding but first – dancing! The band had everyone on the dance floor so like all great wedding days I was able to finish off my wedding storytelling of the day with some cracking shots on the dance floor.

Thank you so much to Joe and Amy for inviting me to capture your big day. It was a pleasure to spend it with you. Here’s a few of my favourites from your day.

Kind words from Amy and Joe:

I can honestly not say how AMAZING this lady is!! Rachel photographed our wedding in April this year and was so much more than a photographer – she helped with the guests, predicted the weather and just made the whole day even more special. My husband and I are not regular picture takers together and she made us feel comfortable, made us laugh and generally not awkward! We have recently received our photos and they are just perfect! Rachel captured so many moments from the day that it made Joe cry once again!! I cannot recommend Rachel enough for capturing the life, love and laughter in her photos! Thank you!!!
