A Festival Themed Wedding at Stonyhurst College in Lancashire
I can’t believe I’ve never taken the time to visit Stonyhurst College in the Ribble Valley before this wedding. It’s incredible. I almost snuck into the library (it was very Hogwarts!)
When Natty and David first got in touch with me to discuss their wedding plans I immediately wanted to be involved because it was all of my favourite weddingy things – a relaxed couple, a beautiful venue, a chilled out, informal village hall reception, good food, dancing and loads of wedding DIY.
After David proposed in Berlin in 2015 in a fairly light lit park, the couple started wedding planning. Like all good weddings, Natty and David went with their gut instincts over tradition every time. I also loved that they decided to give each other the power of veto over anything in the wedding planning. David vetoed the wedding cake and they ended up with a tower of pork pies instead! (Good veto choice)
The whole day was so personal – it was just a pleasure to be a part of. Stonyhurst college was where David and Natty first met as teenagers. So holding the ceremony and champagne reception in the school was particularly special. When it came to finding a venue for the reception the couple wanted something a bit different – a place they could put their own spin on it and make the most of. Hurst Green Village Hall was the perfect choice for their circus themed reception. Natty and David and all their guests walked down from Stonyhurst to the Village Hall which was a lovely part of the day and extra special because it was the same walk that the two of them did every Saturday throughout their teenage years to go to the pub, and also it passes the cemetery where Natty’s mum is buried. Natty’s mum was hugely missed on the day but the couple took a few quiet minutes out on their walk down to the reception to stop and place Natty’s handmade bouquet on her grave.
I had massive fun spending the day with Natty and David – their plans came together perfectly. They were surrounded by the loveliest bunch of fiends and family and we were treated to some beautiful summer weather. All in all a pretty blooming perfect day!
Huge thank you to David and Natty for choosing me to be a part of something so special. Here’s a selection of my favourite images from the day.

Stonyhurst college is one of the most imposing and impressive buildings in the Ribble Valley with a rich history. It’s wonderful that couples can now choose to tie the knot in this amazing place. I love this history and the surroundings on offer. The church and buildings are surrounded by gorgeous gardens which are perfect for your wedding pictures. If like David and Natty you then choose to go elsewhere for your wedding reception then you’ve got this amazing little village hall on your doorstep. There’s plenty of accommodation in the surrounding area for you and your guests too. If you’re planning your wedding at Stonyhurst College or Hurst Green Village Hall then I’d love to hear from you.
