From the minute I met Jan and Kath I really really wanted to be a part of their day. A more genuinely lovely pair you’d struggle to meet. Funny, warm and completely in love with each other. It was pretty special to be a part of the day when they finally tied the knot and became wife and wife. They chose to hold their wedding at one of my favourite venues – the Haworth Art Gallery, close to my heart and also to my front door so it wins on two counts.
I joined Jan and Kath in the morning and it was really lovely to be able to be with them as they got ready together, putting on each other’s jewellery and sharing moments that a couple usually miss out on by getting ready separately. Kath’s brother and sister in law presented them both with matching dragon fly broaches to tie in with their theme.
In the beaming sunshine we headed off to Haworth Art Gallery where, again, unlike most weddings, both Kath and Jan were able to greet their guests before the ceremony began. Accompanied by their best women, the couple then said their vows in the music room of the gallery in front of all their guests. Possibly the best moment of the day was when they danced their way down the aisle much to the delight of all their guests.
We made full use of the beautiful grounds at the Haworth Art Gallery for their pictures before we headed off to Sykeside House in Haslingden for the meal and evening reception and were treated to some beautiful golden evening light.
The whole day was relaxed, joyous and thoroughly enjoyable. Huge congratulations to Kath, Jan and their lovely families. Thank you so much for asking me to document your day. Here’s my favourite images. Enjoy!
