It was my first visit to Cote How wedding venue in the Lakes for this beautiful wedding. If you’re on the hunt for a barn wedding venue in gorgeous surroundings then you need to check it out. It was a very easy choice for Kate and Matt’s wedding day. Big outdoor lovers who spend a lot of time in the Lakes, they knew it was the perfect setting for the small and intimate wedding they had planned. Many of their wedding guests had never visited the Lake District before, and this lovely wedding venue was the perfect introduction to such a beautiful area.
The day of the wedding dawned bright and sunny and my second photographer Kathryn and I arrived early to photography the venue and meet up with Kate and Matt before the ceremony began. There’s a small number of beautiful rooms at Cote How and I found Kate and her bridesmaids getting ready in the bridal suite whilst Matt met with his groomsmen and guests downstairs. I always love arriving for bride prep – it’s the time of day when the nerves are kicking in and the excitement levels are rising. Kate was pretty calm throughout the morning until she caught a glimpse of Matt through the window greeting the guests arriving!
The ceremony took place in the main house at Cote How before the guests headed out into the sunshine for drinks and canapés. We headed off to the lake for pictures with the bridal party and the newlyweds – I do love working with a bride who will hitch up her dress and trek across a field. As a wedding photographer I was literally spoilt for choice for locations of pictures. It is a jaw dropping setting. After the pictures we headed to the party barn to photograph Kate’s handywork. The decoration and hand made touches were perfect – walking boots filled with flowers, nods to the Manchester Bee, favours of wild flower seeds, lashings of handmade bunting (my favourite!) and literally topping it off – handmade cake topper effigies of the couples black cats, Alan and Clive.
We finished off our time with Kate and Matt with some perfect gold light portraits before we headed off and left them to party the night away with their guests.
Big thank you to Kate and Matt for choosing me to capture your big day – we loved it! Here’s a selection of some of my favourite images.
Thank you to Caroline and the staff at Cote How Wedding Venue for looking after us and to my right hand woman Kathryn from Delicious Photography.
