Caroline and Clare (and Ollie)  – Cote How Wedding

Sometimes things happen for a reason. When Caroline and Clare first got in touch about their plans they had a different wedding venue booked. But just a few months before their date their original venue cancelled all their weddings and Caroline and Clare were left venue-less!  Disaster! The Lake District is close to their hearts so their new venue still had to be in that area. Thankfully after a little searching they found one of my absolute favourite Lake District venues – Cote How in Rydal. The venue was perfect for the type of relaxed, rustic and doggy friendly wedding they were planning. So yes – things definitely do happen for a reason!

Caroline and Clare planned an intimate mid-week wedding surrounded by their closest friends and family and their boy Ollie! There wasn’t a theme planned at the beginning but the couple wanted to include things they love – pastel and flowers for Caroline and tattoos and Mojitos for Clare and Ollie the dog, their best bud, of course had to be included (looking resplendent in his flower crown).

Caroline and Clare got ready together at home in the morning before making their way to Cote How where we met with them. They had time for a drink and some peace and quiet inside the main house at Cote How before their guests started to arrive. Sadly the Lake District weather scuppered the plans for an outdoor wedding ceremony but the inside of the barn at Cote How was decorated so beautifully that it didn’t matter a jot!

The skies cleared and after the ceremony Caroline, Clare and their guests were able to enjoy drinks and canapés in the grounds at Cote How before we had a little wander down to the lake for photographs. Before long it was time for guests to sit down to an amazing afternoon tea in the wedding barn and enjoy the speeches!

Caroline and Clare ended their day in a wonderful way – they planted a tree in the garden at Cote How to commemorate their wedding day. The plan is to visit it over the years on their trips to the Lake District and watch it grow! I love that idea. I might go and say hello to it next time I’m at Cote How.
