I headed off to the bright lights of Blackpool for Marc and Gillian’s pre-wedding shoot. Despite photographing weddings across Lancashire for the past few years, I don’t get over to Blackpool very much. So when Marc and Gillian suggested it as a location for their pre-wed shoot I was really excited. It offered completely different photography opportunities to their upcoming wedding at the lovely Gibbon Bridge Hotel in the Ribble Valley countryside.
Blackpool really offered a huge mix of urban/beach/countryside backdrops for the session. We started off on the pier (of course we did!) before heading onto the beach. The light was harsh but absolutely incredible and gave me the opportunity to be really creative with the portraits. It really is all about the light! (Photography geek).
We wandered on the beach for a little while before heading back to the car and travelling further up the coast to the famous sand dunes of St Annes where we got some beautiful images with the very last of the sun.
Marc and Gillian really wanted an engagement shoot as like many couples they were feeling a little bit anxious about being in front of the camera on the big day. Whenever I have a couple who are feeling particularly worried about being in the spotlight I always recommend a pre-wed or engagement shoot. After an hour with me, most couple agree that it wasn’t nearly as bad as they were expecting – they might even have enjoyed it! Win win!
Marc and Gillian need not have been worried – they were great in front of the camera and I was thrilled with the images we captured. Their wedding day took place at Gibbon Bridge in August and was a fabulous colourful day – if you’d like to check it out click here.
