Armathwaite Hall Wedding

This wedding day was SO MUCH FUN. Sophie and Conor are absolutely made for each other – you can tell by how much they make each other laugh.

How it all began…

Sophie and Conor first met at university and romance blossomed very early. On a visit to Northern Ireland to see Conor’s family, the couple went on a road trip to visit some of their favourite places. The final stop was at the White Rocks beach. The couple had a walk on the beach before heading to Conor’s parent’s camper van. Unbeknownst to Sophie the camper van had been decorated with photos of the two of them and filled with fairy lights and candles. As the sun was setting Conor proposed. I’m not crying. You are.

Wedding planning…
Not everyone is born a natural bride! Being a bit indecisive and with Conor living in London, Sophie found it a bit stressful at times! At first the plan was definitely to hold the wedding in a barn or tipi but this plan just wouldn’t come together. Happily, when you live in the Lake District, there’s no shortage of beautiful wedding venues to choose from! As soon as they visited Armathwaite Hall the couple were smitten. With Conor’s family visiting from Northern Ireland, the couple really wanted the guests to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Lakes and Armathwaite Hall offers that in spades. There was still an element of the barn/tipi wedding to the big day – lots of the original decor ideas were still incorporated into the day. Lots of lovely handmade details such as the tree table plan, wooden name tags and the log cake stand. It was a real team effort with friends and family chipping in to help with the wedding cake, car and printing the invitations.
I loved…
Armathwaite Hall is such a stunner of a venue and it was a real pleasure to photograph there for the first time. I absolutely LOVED Sophie’s dress. Stunner. And the lovely hairpiece. Most of all I absolutely loved spending the day with these two whose laughter was infectious. They were complete naturals in front of the camera and I’m so pleased to have been able to capture their day for them. Here’s a selection of some of my favourite images from the day. Thank-you to Matt from Matt Sim Photography for being my right hand man on the day.

“Rachel photographed our wedding at the end of April in the Lake District. Myself and my husband are not very serious/lovey dove/PDA people, so we were a bit nervous about those types of photos you have to get on your wedding day. But Rachel was amazing. We actually thought “theres no way theres gonna be any nice ones of us 2″ because we were just being too goofy and what we thought was awkward at the time – but the photos where AMAZING. I could not fault anything Rachel did. We have had so many compliments about Rachel on how she captured the day beautifully and so naturally. The photos show exactly how happy everyone was on the day and we couldn’t stop smiling whilst looking back on them. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Will 1000000% recommend Rachel!”  Sophie & Conor
